Hear the word of the lord

Baptism

Grahame Walker
We all like to mark significant events in our lives. Things that mark the seasons of our life, the transitions of our life and the milestones of our life. Maybe it’s a wedding or a funeral, graduation or retirement, an anniversary or a birthday. It’s important to make the time, to make the effort to commemorate something. That’s also true of our spiritual lives. However, baptism is far more than just a commemoration. It is something that Jesus intended to serve as a unique sign that marked those who had made the decision to follow Jesus. Baptism is very symbolic. It’s full of symbolism. When we go under the water, we are reflecting Christ’s death and when we come up out of the water his resurrection and our new life with him. It’s a simple command. Believe and be baptised.
