Ministries

 

The Bible records this about Jesus in:

(John 1 v14) "And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us."
Likewise, Community Ministries are visible outworking of the church's call to charitable works outlined in scripture.

CHILDRENS PLAY GROUP

Meets Monday and Tuesday 9.30 - 11.30. Formatted as an unstructured pre-school play
Environment, Mothers and children can interact socially while utilising the equipment
and resources provided.

MAINLY MUSIC

Each Thursday this program provides pre-school teaching with a musical theme
Introduced to Ranui in 2005, there has been rapid growth in numbers attending - 40 in December!

OP SHOP

Affordable clothing is sold from Ranui Community Shop situated in the Ranui
Shopping Center. Donated stock is source from a community bin placed outside the
Church building. The shop is staffed by volunteers and proceeds provide Ranui Baptist
Community Trust with income that is distributed back to the local community by way of
Grants

FOOD BANK

Donated food is distributed to families and individuals in Ranui and close suburbs.
Contact is through the Church office and recipients are encouraged to seek budgeting
advice after the second parcel. Food is sourced from several valued suppliers in the
community as well as through weekly donations from church members.
Donations of money are used to top-up nutritional and quality content of parcels.

Topics include:

  1. How to communicate with your children.
  2. How to raise a moral child
  3. The 5 principles of correction

Budgeting

Trained advisors provide free personalise information and programs as a satellite branch of Western Districts Budgeting Services.

Objects

To provide leadership, direction and resources which will enable the Church
to minister to it's local community by seeking to meet the social, emotional, physical,
spiritual and educational needs of it's local community

Activities

Income from Op Shop profits is returned to the community by means of grants.
During 2005 these included:

Start up costs for Parenting Course

.Start up costs for Mainly Music

.Gideon Bibles for Waitakere City schools

.Cost of 4 scholarships to Swanson Ranui AFC to enable 4 local children
to play soccer

During 2004/2005 the Trust's fund-raising committee (comprising the Pastor and two
Trustees) raised funding for construction of a community center on the Church site
(construction taken place during January - May 2006)

FRIEND SHIP OF OVER 50'S CLUB

Meets every Friday 10am to 1:15pm. $3 for lunch. Bottomless tea and coffee. Great range of
Social and fun activities. Trip away once a month. Contact e-mail John Ball

There are a number of people in the Church trained in counseling skills and Holy Spirit ministry.
