Events for 2012
5-8th April – Easter Camp
This is easily the biggest event of the year for all youth leaders in the country. We must get our youth there because it is awesome and a great way to get our youth to encounter God, hear the Gospel and form/strengthen friendships. Last year the bulk of the 14 youth who were baptized through Youth was shortly after Easter Camp. Easter camp is such a well-run camp where youth experience God and always seem to respond.
12th May – Banquet Night
This evening will be an outreach that will primarily be for parents. It will be a Banquet style night where parents are invited to an evening where the youth serve them, entertain them and they also hear the Gospel. There will be drama, music and food. Parents will meet the RBC family but they’ll also get to see for themselves what their teens get up to. This will also be a warm up to the Big festival in July.
1-4 June – BYM Leaders Retreat
This is an annual event. This year we have a team of 14 leaders. The weekend is a time of training and hearing from experienced professionals in Youth ministry. The leaders found this weekend to be very helpful and inspiring last year. It is for this reason that we will look at going again this year.
25-27th June – 24-7 Youth Annual Conference
This year I plan to attend the 24-7 Youth conference with interns Joel and Dwayne (Josh Hart will be in England by then). We have our eye on Waitakere and Massey as places where we could place a Youth worker from RBC in the near future. We have discussed this with the regional manager for 24-7 Youth Work Helen Tuigamala (from Church Unlimited) who advised us to attend the conference this year. The conference is also in June.
21 July – Music Festival
This community outreach will be a music event held at RBC and hosted by Cornerstone Youth. This will be separate to Vertical as that will happen in September (and on a Wednesday night). This event will be more community focused; promoted in schools and local media and will feature a big dance group or band. Plans and preparations are under way.
20-22nd August – His Manifest Presence (Holy Spirit Conference)
This year we plan to take our leaders to this conference which is led by Bill Johnson. We went 2 years ago and found the teachings on the Holy Spirit, healing and the prophetic to be very helpful. The teaching is practical and faith building. This conference should be great.
19 September – Vertical
This annual music event will be held on a Wednesday night this year. This is a combined youth night which will feature our Youth Band, a guest band and guest speaker (ie. Blue/Nigel).
