RANUI CENTRAL

Information About the Community Facility

At Ranui we are extremely grateful for the significant support that the Waitakere Licensing Trust and A.S.B. Bank have given towards this project. These two Trusts have funded the bulk of the project, especially Waitakere Licensing Trust.

The facility has within it a commercial kitchen, a café style set up that can be divided into two rooms by a sound proof door. It has high quality sound gear built in, data projector, DVD/video player, etc. for seminars.

There is no intention to ever make a profit off this facility, but we do want to ensure that we cover costs.

Groups
Currently there are a number of groups booked into use the facility: life skill courses, parenting courses, cultural groups, music groups, youth groups, Mainly Music. etc.

To book the facilities or for a copy of our booking sheet and useful information, phone 833-7815, or email ranuibaptist@xtra.co.nz

GETTING MORE FUN AND LESS DEPT OUT OF YOUR CHRISTMAS

Russell's Hot Tips

  1. Expensive presents that stretch your budget are no substitute for quality time missed during the year. Don't guilt shop.
Kids remember the fun times long-term and forget what you bought very quickly.
  2. Shopping on credit today = stress for the whole family
    Tomorrow.
  3. House swapping with a relative or a Baptist Church member
In another part of the country is a great, inexpensive way to
    Holiday.
  4. Shared holiday experiences are often cheaper and more fun.
  5. Who said that its not a 'real' Christmas dinner unless you
feel sick from overeating afterwards? Christmas dinners are
special but do not have to cost a whole lot more.
  6. Avoid Crisco's for your Christmas shopping. This is the
Most expensive way to buy Christmas goodies and you will
Get products that you don't even like.
Countdown have a system where you can buy $5, 10, $20 vouchers throughout the year. If these are spent during Dec - Jan you will receive a further 5% off.
Pak N Save have a Christmas club where for every $30 of Christmas stamps you buy they give you a $2 stamp free.
  7. Do a budget for the holidays online with sorted.org.nz

Weekly Prayer

Prayer Pomp

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Phil. 4:4-7

A Father’s Advice
By Ernest Smith 7 September 08

The best advice I ever had
Was given to me by my dad,
These occasions being rare,
I listened with the greatest care.
My Dad began by telling me
About his life, that I might see
The things he did, both bad and good,
While wondering if I understood.
“Let heart and conscience be your guide;
Be not possessed with foolish pride.
Do all the things that you must do,
Ignore what others think of you.
Nor be ashamed of your ideas,
But live them and expel your fears.
Your life is yours and yours alone -
A treasure God has made your own.
If you are wrong but think you’re right,
Instinct calls to stand and fight,
But better to surrender pride
And try to see the other side.
These were the words my father told
And I have treasured them as gold;
And somewhere, in a Far-off land,
My Father knows I understand.
