The miracle of Jesus feeding the 5,000 had just finished and Jesus wanted some time alone to pray so he told his disciples to get on a boat and go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. During the journey a dangerous storm overtakes the boat the disciples are in and they begin to wonder where God was. Jesus comes walking to them on the water and the disciples become scared thinking Jesus is a ghost. Jesus calls to them saying “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”

Peter then questions Jesus saying, “If it really is really you, tell me to come to you on the water”. Jesus invites Peter to come. Peter climbs out of the boat and begins to walk on the water to Jesus. As soon as Peter gets scared of the wind and waves and takes his eyes off Jesus he begins to sink. Jesus reaches his hand down and grabs Peter. They climb back into the boat and the storm stops. The disciples immediately begin to worship Jesus and recognize that he truly is the Son of God.

 

From Matthew 14:22-33

‘Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me’ (Psalm 23:4).

There can be times in life when it is as though we are surrounded by evil and we are walking through a dark valley. That hardship can include a lingering sickness. But even in that difficult time we are to know the power and the presence of the Lord. By faith we overcome fear because God is with us. The Lord will comfort you.

Ranui Baptist is to be a church of healing and deliverance. This has been spoken over our church many times and again recently when Len Buttner came to share at our homegroup. Here is Len’s prophetic word:

‘I believe that God wants us to recognize the grace that is upon our lives. When I look at a church, a church has certain graces that have been given by the Holy Spirit to the church. What is the grace that is on your church? What is the grace that is on your life? We have got to draw from the grace of God in us. I’m not talking about saving grace. I’m talking about the grace that comes through the gifts of God that are on a house.

I really believe that Ranui Baptist Church has got a healing grace upon it, a grace for salvation and a grace for healing. I want to say that you pursue healing and deliverance in your church. I really believe there is something of an anointing there to break the yoke in your area, in what God has got. As you break that, I believe you will enter a real period of growth that is going to come out of new converts; so keep going. I saw that the last time I was there that this anointing is in this house, so pursue that.”

That word is a great encouragement for our church. Our God is a healing God (Exodus 15:26). Let’s continue to pursue healing and deliverance through the love and power of Jesus’ name. I trust God that a healing anointing of God’s love will rest upon you today. God bless, Pastor Matthew.

“Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”

    “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward” (Mark 9:38-41).

I love the faith of this unknown man who was not an apostle. Maybe he became an apostle later on because he had more faith than the apostles. What he saw in Jesus he quickly put into practice. Likewise we have to simply command the demons to come out so that people are set free. What we see in the gospels and in the book of Acts we should put into practice today so that wherever we go there will be a manifestation of God’s power.

Keys to Seeing Miracles

1) Preach about Jesus

2) Encourage people to put their faith in Jesus

3) Yield yourself to Christ

4) Fill your heart with the Word of God

5) Move in the gifts of the Holy Spirit

If you need salvation, healing, deliverance, or the baptism with the Holy Spirit, fix your eyes upon the Lord Jesus Christ and His power and presence will come upon you.

I encourage you to have a special time of prayer throughout this week. Please pray that God’s power and presence will be revealed in a greater way with healings and miracles in the church and through the church into our community. Wherever and whenever you get an opportunity, pray for the sick and break curses in Jesus’ name.

To give you an idea of what this will be like, our homegroup had a go on Tuesday. This clip will be shown to you during this morning’s service. You are invited to contribute your testimony. It has to be short and sweet. I would like you to think about what you would want to say. Make some notes and then let me know when it is a good time to record you.
