Len and Linda were born in East London, South Africa and in June 1997 migrated to New Zealand with their two daughters, after receiving a prophetic call from the Lord.
In South Africa Len served as an elder with a large New Testament Church called East London Christian Centre. Len was also involved in ministry with an apostolic team planting churches. He ministered with great sensitivity, being effective in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, with deliverance and healing.
Len has a heart for the church to be established in the prophetic and to teach the Body of Christ to hear the Shepherd’s voice and to have a love relationship with the Lord as the Bride of Christ.
Since arriving in NZ Len and Linda have been a part of Elim Christian Centre, Auckland. Len was an ordained minister with Elim for about 8 years. In March 2005 Len, and Linda, stepped out in faith and Len resigned from full-time employment as Managing Director of a textile company in Auckland to pursue their calling in God.
In January 2007 Len and Linda felt there was a new season in their ministry and founded Eagle Ascend Ministries, an itinerant prophetic ministry with a mandate to equip, empower and encourage the church to fulfil their God-given destiny through their gifts and callings.
Len and Linda have been married for 42 years and have two married daughters with 4 beautiful grandchildren.
‘We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised’ (Hebrews 6:12-14).
We are encouraged to imitate those who have inherited the promises of God. We are also given the key to success, which is faith and patience. A person who stands out for having this type of patient faith is Abraham. This helped him to become known as the friend of God and made him a foundational figure for understanding much of the Bible.
There are different aspects to the life and character of Abraham, for the Scriptures have a lot to say about him. In today’s message I am going to focus on his calling as a prophet, for he carried a strong prophetic mantle and was a forerunner for the many prophets who came after him.
As we look at the greatness of Abraham as a prophet, we soon see that he was just a normal man. He has his own battles with doubt and unbelief before he became the hero of faith. Abraham is an example of an overcomer. He won the victory of faith through his patience. It was only after waiting patiently that he received the promises of God that had been made to him so much earlier in life.
We are called to walk by faith, for it is by faith that we can move mountains, see miracles and lay hold of God. But the real test is when mountains aren’t moving, the miracles aren’t happening, and God seems to be silent. Will you give up? Will you turn back, or will your faith come out as pure gold after having been tested? Through the ups and downs of life, Abraham stands as an example for us to follow.
God bless you as you are strengthened and encouraged in your walk with the Lord, Pastor Matthew.
