TURNING A NATION BACK TO GOD

The Testimony of Elijah

‘Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins’ (James 5:17-20).

We are starting a series where I will be looking at a different prophet each week. I will give an introduction to that person’s life and then I will seek to share their testimony as if he was back from Heaven to share with us.

Elijah was taken up in a chariot and horses of fire without facing death. He speaks of those who will be alive at the return of Christ and are caught up to meet the Lord in the air. Today you will need to use your imagination that the prophet Elijah is back from Heaven to share with you.

The lives of the prophets were amazing, and yet they were normal human beings like us. Everything written in the Bible is to inspire and encourage us to have a closer walk with God. Elijah was raised up during a time of backsliding and idolatry. False religion was taking over the land, until Elijah came on the scene to demonstrate that the Lord is God. Those who have drifted from the Lord need to come back to Him.

The testimony of Elijah shows that there is no time for backsliding. We need to be zealous for the Lord today. Each of us can do great things for God, but to walk in that we must pray like Elijah prayed. That is one of the biggest challenges I get from his life. The way he got answers to prayer should encourage us to pray earnestly until we know that God has heard and answered.

God bless you as you live for the Lord Jesus Christ and take to heart the testimony of the prophets, Pastor Matthew.

John Fergusson This Sunday 26 May 10am & 6pm

The ministry of John & Bron Fergusson

We spread the good news of Jesus Christ, through gospel campaigns, schools of healing, humanitarian work, literature and other resources, teaching and preaching.

We’ve worked in many nations, especially Asia & New Zealand. We currently lead missions teams twice a year to Nepal.

Why we do it

We believe the Bible is God speaking to mankind today, all its revelation is true, and needs to be both heeded and responded to.

We believe God the Father created everything for his glory, so we can have a relationship with him.

We believe Jesus Christ is the only way to know God as Father, by faith in the death of Jesus on the cross at Calvary and his subsequent resurrection, because he died in our place for our sins.

We believe the Holy Spirit lives in the Christian enabling us to live the way he wants us to, and who is manifest in our lives through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, releasing supernatural gifts for the benefit of mankind and the glory of God.

We believe Christians are those who have had the revelation that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and have submitted to him as their Lord and Saviour.

We long for the Lord’s return, and know we will spend eternity with him, by his grace.

We are passionate about Christian unity, and to see everyone know Christ, the only solution to the problems faced by all mankind.

For the evening service, John and Bron will be sharing about their recent missions trip to Nepal. This will be a great climax to our missions month. Please come along, Pastor Matthew.

10 am this Sunday at RBC – Stephanie Harawira

Stephanie hails from the Hokianga and is married with 5 children. She is the Visionary of Pacific Pearls and Co-Founder of Ezekiel 33 Trust. Stephanie has an apostolic prophetic anointing and is an itinerant preacher with a heart and call for the nation. Her passion is people and she loves to preach, equip and release the Body into the fullness of Christ through the Power of the Holy Spirit. Ranui Baptist is her home church.

Stephanie’s testimony:

“Lord, if You give us this exam, I will go to church.” He passed the exam, but Stephanie forgot the prayer and carried on, business as usual. Until three months later when her neighbour shared about a church up the road and she remembered the prayer. She went along and God used this church to lovingly embrace her and draw her to Himself. Six months later, she asked Him to show her if He was real.

A visiting speaker carrying the Toronto blessing was there and the Holy Spirit was moving in power. She saw a flash of light and then was flat on her back for over an hour weeping, with waves of warmth flowing over her. She could hear “I love you,” over and over, and when she got up she was changed from the inside out. “I knew God was real and I knew He loved me.

I was flying high, filled with peace and joy for two weeks.”
